Conducting Research

The partner meeting for Project Holomakers ended yesterday in Alicante, in Spain, with a visit to the Technological Institute for Children’s Products & Leisure (AIJU). Partners of the European consortium had the opportunity to visit the Tech Lab, Toy Lab and 3D Printer Lab with various experts and engineers. The objective of AIJU is to optimise the creation and development process for children’s toys, from the initial idea to the product launch, along with certifications and reference guides.

Recently, the research centre has extended its Gaming, Virtual Reality and Advanced Reality Department to address market demand and increase research and development in a sector that is fundamental to didactic activities.

Project Holomakers, which is implemented as part of the European Erasmus+ Programme, involves high school students in the study of STEAM through new teaching methodologies for scientific subjects, such as holograms, virtual images and design.

Starting in March 2019, the project will organise educational labs with the following high schools: Volterra in Ciampino (Rome), Touschek in Grottaferrata (Rome) and Fermi Filangieri in Formia. The labs will be held by intermedia artist Lino Strangis [see news: Artistic Research] and Daniele Vigo, maker and coach at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym. Lino and Daniele will work with the students all the way through to the organisation and exhibition of the holograms at the Media Art Festival 2019.
