This year, global expenses for the Internet of Things will top 772.5 billion dollars, a 14.6% increase over the 674 million spent in 2017; by 2020, this sum is forecast to exceed one thousand billion dollars. According to analysts working for the International Data Corporation (IDC), a global company specialised in market research, consumer-level expenses on the web will reach 62 billion dollars in 2018, most of which will concern smart homes.

 

Increased interest in smart home devices will include systems to automatically open and close shutters, home safety systems with movement sensors and video-surveillance systems. However, until 2021, the greatest increase will concern smart devices such as programmable ovens and refrigerators that send a message when the milk is about to finish.

 

Students participating in Project "IoT at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym," promoted with Cisco, have begun familiarising with these devices, as this programme which introduces students to the potential of the web. To connect people, infrastructure, objects, processes and data continuous its Italian tour.

 

Today – Wednesday, March 14 – 9:00 am to 1:00 pm - Coach Marco Brocchieri will host a training session at IIS Enzo Ferrari in Rome, the school directed by Ida Crea. The programme is coordinated by Professor Bianca Gerarda Ielpo and involves five classes (3C, 3A,3F,4A,4F).

 

Today’s appointment is the second one this week. Last Monday, the training session involved students from four classes at IIS Democrito (3G, 4E, 1Rb, 4H), coordinated by Professor Alvise Mattei.

 

Over the course of two and a half years, Project IoT at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym has involved 20,000 high school students, introducing them, experientially, to competences and knowledge that will help them explore new professional opportunities arising in the interconnected world and move towards the job market.
