Milan Digital Week

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale helps Students to learn about how work is changing.  After Milan, the European “All Digital Wee” will continue throughout Italy.

At the Milan Digital Week, 400 Students learned about the new profiles and competences required by the job market directly in large ICT sector-companies. For the second year in a row, this initiative is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with Microsoft, Dell, OmnitechIT, Facebook, Freeformers, Olivetti and Ericsson. Moreover, thanks to the participation of the Fondazione Don Gnocchi, Students are also experimenting with the potential of new technology for the most fragile categories.

The Fondazione Mondo Digitale will participate in the Milan Digital Week, the platform of events organised by the Milan Council on March 13-17, which includes a rich programme of guided visits to tech companies and labs for Students of all ages.

The objective is to involve young men and women in an educational marathon to learn about emerging professional profiles in the tech sector, as well as new market segments, and bridge the mismatch between schooling and the job market. This new significant milestone underlines the strategic presence of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in Lombardy. Since 2017, over 10.000 young men and women have been involved in innovation and digital inclusion projects in Milan and its province.

The first appointment if on March 13 (9:30 am) at the Microsoft House for a lab on artificial intelligence as part of “Ambizione Italia for Schools,” a project promoted by Microsoft and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to introduce 250,000 Students to the opportunities provided by the digital revolution. Roberta Cocco, Digital Transformation and Civic Services Councillor in Milan will be present. On March 14 (11:30 am), 11.30 Tim O’Brien, General Manager, Microsoft AI Programmes, will meet with Students for a talk on artificial intelligence and ethics.

On March 13 (9:30 am), the Dell Digital Futures” will address how IT can influence future careers in terms of gender divide. On March 14 (9:30 am) Omnitech will open its doors to Students who wish to learn more about industry 4.0 with sessions on security and Internet of Things. Social marketing and cybersecurity will be addressed on March 14 (9:30 am) at the Facebook Headquarters in Milan with Project “Living Digital,” promoted in collaboration with Free Formers. During the next days, courses will continue in schools and at the AFOL Metropolitana.

On March 15 (9:30 am), Olivetti will host a Coding lab with the Microninja Kit as part of Project “ShareSchool,” while Students participating in Ericsson’s “5G4School” will develop IoT and cloud applications for robotics. A special focus will address technology for life improvement. The Fondazione Don Gnocchi will involve Students in an important experience to understand the importance of technology as a support for human frailty: a lab to discover about the potential of robotics, virtual reality and domotics in rehabilitation and assistance services.

From March 25 to 31, 2019, the experience will continue Europe-wide with the “All Digital Week” Campaign of which the Fondazione Mondo Digitale is the national partner.
