Lavinia, Marzia and Gaia are students at the Istituto per le industrie artistiche in Rome. They are working with Fab Lab Coordinator Mauro Del Santo at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym to design modular school furniture that will be produced with digital manufacturing devices.
The fundamental idea is to innovate teaching through flexible arrangements that integrate new technology and didactic activities based on design, teamwork and practical testing.
Each panel includes a number of “learning by doing” didactic kits. Children have mechanisms to conduct physics and mathematics experiments, as well as boxes, mirrors and protractors learn geometry and a kit of boards to draw conceptual maps.
Dedicated to elementary and middle school children ,the project will be presented at the Maker Faire 2016 (Rome, October 14-16).
