Science and False Science

Are electromagnetic radiations bad for us? Are vaccines dangerous? Does homeopathy work? Are human activities changing the global climate?

These are just a few of the questions that scientists have been debating for years and which, in general, the scientific community has reached full agreement. Nonetheless, many people tend to doubt these conclusions and often base their ideas on opinions that have absolutely no scientific value.

Why are people “losing faith” in the scientific community? How can we defeat fears and ignorance? How do we distinguish true science from false science? This will be addressed at RomeCup 2018, at the Rome Università Campus Bio-Medico and at the Campidoglio on April 16-18, 2018.

This interactive debate with the participants will be chaired by Emilio Giovenale, Enea Researcher and Manager of the FEL Compatto Lab at the Enea Research Centre in Frascati.

The National Agency for New Technology, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, a RomeCup 2018 partner, will participate in the event with various projects in the showcase area, as well as hosting labs for schools and an interactive debate on scientific fake news.

The 12th edition of RomeCup, the multi-event dedicated to Robotics and Life Sciences in the Innovation Eco-system, will be held at the Rome Università Campus Bio-Medico on April 16-17, 2018. On day three, April 18, the awards ceremony will be held as usual at the Rome Campidoglio.
