On September 6-8, 2017 the Phyrtual Innovation Gym: 2nd edition of the School of Physics with Arduino and Smartphone, promoted by the Department of Physics at Sapienza University in Rome in collaboration with the National Institute for Nuclear Physics.

School of Physics with Arduino and Smartphone is a full-immersion activity in the use of modern technology in the execution of physics experiments. The objective is to train professors to teach their students how to use technology to measure and con duct experiments, increasing lab hours and introducing coding and IoT in secondary school classes.

The first day will be dedicated to fontal lessons on Arduino programming and the use of smartphone apps to take measures in physics. Each lesson will be followed by an in-depth debate and a specific project.

In fact, during the course, participants will have to design and implement a physics experiment (on day two) that will span from shopping in a household goods store for common utensils that can be used to take measures. Participants will visit the shop and purchase items they will use with the help of makers to create the tools necessary to conduct the experiments. On the morning of day three, the experiments will be finalised and, in the afternoon, they will be showcased and illustrated.

At the end of the course, participants will receive a template to document their experience. All documentation will be published here.

The 2nd edition of the School of Physics will feature talks by David Cuartielles, Arduino Co-founder, and Rolando Chacòn, University of Barcelona, two internationally renowned personalities.
