Digital Bridge Project - Headmaster Marcello Laneri recounts his first trip to the Saharawi Refugee Camps.

The first mission for the second phase of Project Digital Bridge has been completed by the Headmaster of the Istituto Pio IX (1-7 March). Brother Marcello Laneri has recently returned to Italy, while the rest of the delegation is still in the Algerian desert.

The sense of belonging, time as a rite, the taste of time … then the wall, the war museum, the women’s school … the constant flow of Laneri’s trip transmits stark images that reflect and transmit the beauty of a people that has proudly and humbly undergone an unjust isolation for over 30 years.

Notwithstanding his short stay with the Saharawi, Headmaster Laneri had the opportunity to meet the (female) Minister of Education and analyse the Saharawi school system.

The Istituto Pio IX school is a member of the network of schools participating in the Digital Bridge Project. The school has chosen to work on the issue of respecting laws through awareness raising actions. The have already begun to transform the collected material into a multimedia message. The creation of a language school in the Willayas of Aaiun and Ausserd is also being studied.
