SCHOOLS
The project’s European methodology for teaching robotics in schools is targeted to students from age ten (high level primary school) to eighteen (upper secondary) through the coordination and promotion of multidisciplinary groups of professionals in robotics, education, pedagogy and edutainment. Most importantly, the end-users are involved in the development of RoboDidactics methodology thanks to the participation of partners having a long-standing experience of working with schools. In fact, schools will play a key role throughout the project by both providing the testing ground for the methodology and by inputting critical user-needs in the design of the methodology itself.
The target of RoboDidactics is to involve at least 3 different schools in each country (Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Germany and Slovenia) in the overall experimentation: developing and testing the Robo.Didactic Methodology during a full year programme in three different scientific-oriented subjects (e.g., IT, programming, physics, etc. to be selected by the schools). This means that more than 300 students will be fully involved in the development of the project, together with their corresponding teachers.
The project counts on the participation of a selected group of teachers (primary, lower secondary and upper-secondary schools) in each site who will be introduced to the project’s methodology through structured seminars, physical workshops and educational materials (guidelines). Teachers will test the methodology through the development of educational plans approved by themselves and the IPE. Results will be discussed, evaluated and validated and finally a book containing the tested and validated RoboDidactics methodology will be produced for wide transfer and dissemination. The RoboDidactics manual will be translated in all partners’ languages and made freely available though project website.
