Robo-Didactics ( Guidelines for the Partner of the Project Consortium)
Each partner is provided with the following material:
- “Presentation of the guidelines for teachers and students” (Presentation_RoboDidactics.ppt),
- Handout for the hands-on sessions of the workshop (Hands_on_Session.ppt)
- Questionnaire to be distributed for all the attendees to the workshop (QUESTIONNAIRE.doc).
As described in the (Presentation_RoboDidactics.ppt), the one-day Workshop will be structured as follows:
- Welcome and introduction to the Workshop: each partner has to fill out and optionally modify this part according to the adopted strategy for the involvement of the schools, the number of kits provided and the full offer to the schools involved in the project (5 minutes)
- Presentation of the Robo-Didactics Project (max 20-30 minutes)
- Objectives
- Brief state of the art of robotics for education
- The Robo-Didactics Methodology for the introduction of robotics at school
- Theoretical approach
- Demonstration of educational use of robotic kits
- Robo-didacticsCup as ultimate goal
- Working groups (5/6 people per group) of blends of stakeholders (teachers, students, educators, ICT experts): for each group a rapporteur has to be identified, which coordinates and report the comments and proposals elaborated by each group (typ. 120 minutes)
- Hands-on session: this is a technical session for presenting the potentialities of the robotic kits. A separate file (Hands_on_Session.ppt) is provided to support the hands-on sessions by showing the detailed technical steps for assembling a robot. (typ. 60 minutes)
- Activities of each workgroup (15 minutes per group)
- Open discussion on the proposed methodology and its critical analysis;
- Evaluation of its applicability at school and identification of the teachers mainly interested in its use
- Proposal of improvements/modifications to the Robo-Didactics methodology
- Proposal of new ideas that the project can promote and support
- Final session (15-20 minutes)
- Presentation by each group rapporteur of a synthesis of the developed activities
- Evaluation of the work undertaken during the day
- Definition of the activities to be undertaken
The Presentation of Guidelines for Teachers and Students presents in detail the Robo-Didactics Project, a brief state of the art on educational robotics, the proposed methodology and the robotic kits used in Robo-Didactics for educational purposes.
The main reason of the detailed description is that this file in addition to (Hands_on_Session.ppt) has to be distributed to teachers and students as a handout.
However, each speaker of the consortium is suggested to be concise and very time-effective during the presentation at the workshop.
The workshop includes a practical session of hands-on based on the two exercises (ROBOT 1 & ROBOT 2) illustrated step by step in (Hands_on_Session.ppt). In order to setup this session, it is needed to provide each group with a PC showing the instructions for the robot assembly, a robotic kit and a person for assistance and supervision. The consortium partner is required to try to reproduce one or both the exercises proposed in the Hands_on_Session.ppt file before the workshop and contact UCBM in case of problems.
Each group is required to identify a rapporteur for the coordination of the internal discussion and the presentation of the group proposals and comments in the final workshop session of discussion. The consortium partner has to take note of proposals and comments from each group and to distribute the Questionnaire for Teachers to all the attendees. The questionnaires will allow selecting the schools to be involved in the project. They should be filled out by each teacher and delivered via email to a local reference person within one week after the workshop. The local partner can also decide to make the attendees fill out the questionnaire and take it back at the end of the workshop. Please, add to the presentation and the questionnaire cover the name and email address of the local contact person.
