Everyone on Internet - Digital Literacy Weeks

For the “Digital Literacy Weeks,” the elderly centres and organisations that have participated in the Grandparents on the Internet course invite all the citizens of Rome to their neighbourhood school to learn how to write a letter on a PC, send an e-mail or make use of the on-line services provided by the public administration. Aspiring digital citizens will be welcomed by our diploma-holding senior citizens together with the young tutors and the teachers who have participated in the various editions of Grandparents on the Internet.

The first Digital Literacy Week was held in Rome, Italy from March 27-31, 2006. For the first time, with the collaboration of the city’s elderly centres, 30 schools opened up their doors to all citizens for an entire week. The initiative was sponsored by Engineering Ingegneria Informati, an Italian IT group providing services to citizens and enterprises.

The second edition of “Everyone on Internet” was held from April 16-27, 2007 and witnessed the participation of more than 50 schools and 1000 senior citizens.

The third edition of “Everyone on Internet” was held from May 19-23, 2008 and involved nearly sixty schools, in every city district, that opened up their classrooms to citizens.
