From an Ad to a Photovoltaic Plant

Preside.jpg

The sound of water running through the Karstic grottoes and forming stalagmites and stalactites has been transformed into a series of panels that produce photovoltaic energy. The plant is managed by Arse, a Gruppo Acea company. The intuition, on the other hand, came from the students of Class 4D at the Liceo scientifico Tullio Levi Civita.

The school used the recorded sound to win a competition on water (Chiare, fresche, dolci acque...) developed in collaboration by Acea and the Rome Municipal School Department.

Students and teachers decided to donate the prize, a photovoltaic plant to the Anya Lewoh school in the region of Fontem, the school in Cameroon that is twinned with the Licep Levi Civita via project Digital Bridge.

The didactic cooperation plan calls for the development of computer labs in all the participating schools in Cameroon. The labs will need dedicated energy soures on account of the state of energy provision in the country.

The announcement of the donation was given by Headmaster Alberto Cataneo  on January 20th during the “Chiare, fresche, dolci acque…” Competition Award in Villa Sciarra (Rome). The announcment was received with great interest by Acea managers and Rome City Councillor Gianluigi De Palo.

The school board approved the donation and the Acea technicians are now ready to install it. Once again, another demonstration of the solidarity of the Roman schools twinned with schools in Cameroon through Project Digital Bridge.

The next appointment is for a didactic videoconference with the African school as well as a celebration. In fact, the 26th of February is dedicated to the twinning with Cameroon.
