From January to March 2016, artists will be in 12 schools in Naples, Rome and Milan to help students produce digital works that will be exhibited at the prestigious Media Art Festival.
Last Wednesday, December 16, artist Giacomo Lion, a young emerging talent from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna, met with students at the Rome IC Parco della Vittoria, officially inaugurating the Media Art Festival Tour in schools. The objective is to drive youth towards a new understanding of art and technology, developing strategic skills and new professional profiles.
After the success of the pilot edition, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale welcomes two new prestigious partners to the Media Art Festival: BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas and the Rome Fondazione MAXXI.
The original project-event will be held in Rome on April 13-17, 2016 at the Museo nazionale per le arti del XXI secolo. The initiative, which brings together lectures, art installations, conferences with international experts and didactic tracks for students of all levels, is a novel event in the Italian panorama. A true large-scale lab that brings young men and women closer to a creative and innovative active use of technology.
“The Media Art Festival was conceived with a strong educational and didactic valence. Bringing new technology into classrooms is a challenge that the Fondazione Mondo Digitale launched years ago and which aligns perfectly with the strategic actions promoted by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research for the National Plan for Digital School. It is above all a cultural action stemming from a new idea of school and the use of technological tools for education and 21st century learning,” explains Mirta Michilli, Director General, Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
