Holomakers

The first educational workshop for Project Holomakers begins today in Athens and will continue until March 2. Matteo Viscogliosi, designer, maker and coach at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, and Alex Fanelli, a student at the Turin Albertine Academy of Arts, will participate on behalf of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

Participants in the first training session (two for each partner) will learn about the basics and foundations of holography, the technique that allows the creation of holograms or three-dimensional images. The process through which digital holograms are created by using Octave open source software will be illustrated during the course of the workshop, along with STEAM applications, virtual experiences and 3D. Today’s session will be held by Artur Sobczyk from the Faculty of Physics at the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT).

Holomakers, which is implemented as part of the European Erasmus+ Programme, involves high school students in the study of STEAM through new teaching methodologies for scientific subjects, such as holograms, virtual images and design.
