On the occasion of the “Digital Literacy Weeks”, the social centers for the elderly and the schools that participated in the “Grandparents on the Internet” course invited Rome’s citizens back to their neighborhood schools in order to learn how to write a letter on a computer, send an e-mail, or use public administration’s online services.
Citizens were greeted by tutors young and old and the teacher coordinators who had previously participated in the various editions of Grandparents on the Internet.

The first Digital Literacy Week was held in Rome from March 27 to 31, 2006. For the first time, over 30 schools and the city’s social centers for the elderly opened their doors to local citizens for an entire week. The activity was sponsored by Engineering Ingegneria Informatica, the Italian Information Technology group serving citizens and companies.
