What we do
Network projects
We have begun activities in different areas of social and digital inclusion with projects in various stages of completion: some are in the planning phase, others are considered pilot actions, and many have been recently launched or are already at mid-course or nearing completion. From the Global Junior Challenge – now in its 9th Edition – to the 18th Edition of Grandparents on the Internet (2019-2020 school year), the projects we re-propose year after year are constantly renewed. Completed projects are subjected to an accurate assessment of the results achieved that can also be consulted online. A number of projects have become authentic models of reference replicated in other Italian regions and even exported abroad.

More and more public and private organizations are currently seeking support from FMD in their proposals of new ideas, extensions of existing projects, and experimentation with new teaching methods. Each one takes us another step closer to the fulfillment of our dream of creating a truly inclusive learning society and a widespread community of social innovators at every level. This also increases FMD networking power: the ability to bring schools, universities, institutions, companies, and research centers together in order to pool their forces in facing the latest challenges, such unemployment among the young and Neet phenomenon.

How we work
  • Actions are planned and implemented as social innovation tools themselves, and with the creation of “hybrid alliances” at local, national, and transnational level with the objective of generating virtuous closed circles that benefit the entire community.
  • Learning, skill development and the sharing of knowledge are essential: we promote involvement using different methods (cooperative learning, social learning, learning by doing, etc.), and dialogue and comparisons between different generations and cultures.
  • Projects are monitored and evaluated through Real Time Evaluation and other models of interpretation developed by Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy, University of Edinburgh (UK) and FMD Science Director.
  • For the documentation, communication, and presentation of our projects, we have reinterpreted the storytellingmethod through a choral narration that illustrates the different points of view of everyone involved.
  • The experience with all our projects has been coded and made public through the use of various search tools (case studies, reports, manuals, interviews, etc.) and different types of support (publication, reporting, et.). Much attention has also been placed on public opinion.
  • In order to provide all our actions with further support, we have developed Phyrtual, the first social innovation platform based on knowledge, learning, and community building.
