IoT Acceleration

Soluzioni per condividere con il talento dei nativi digitali. Con la Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson

IoT Acceleration, promoted by the Lars Magnus Ericsson Foundation and the Digital World Foundation, is a project-competition to accompany millennials in a "connected society" and prevent educational mismatch, skill mismatch and digital mismatch. Aimed at high school students, the project aims to guide young people towards a technical and scientific culture, promoting the responsible and informed use of connection tools. With a focus on mobility, transport and tourism, 220 girls and boys are placed in training and 20 on an "acceleration" path. One of the tools used to deliver this is the IoT Accelerator platform, developed by the Ericsson company.

During the pilot stage two distinct calls were launched, one intended for schools and the other for students, as individual participants:

  • The CALL FOR SCHOOLS selects 10 classes, totalling around 200 students, who are involved in a 3 month training program delivered using both face to face and distance learning. It is dedicated to the development of apps and innovative web solutions to facilitate sharing connecting people in urban contexts at risk of social and digital exclusion.
  • The CALL FOR STUDENTS selects 20 girls and boys who can either participate individually or in teams (maximum three). Young people who have been selected for three months work at the Innovation Gym’s digital environments are supported by mentors to create and apply their prototype.

After training is completed the participants compete in a hackathon at the Innovation Gym. The judges then select 5 finalists who then present their idea with an elevator pitch.
