RomeCup

progetto-romecup.jpg
RomeCup, the international City of Rome Robotics Cup, both the original idea and the event, are fruits of the work of FMD.

The match is held once every year in the marvelous setting offered by Rome’s Campidoglio area where the rooms of Palazzo Senatorio are opened to the robots built by schools in Italy and around the world that peacefully “invade” the Eternal City in a battle to the last microchip. The robots are not the only winners, however. The students and teachers who placed their bets on the resources offered by robodidactics also emerge victorious: robot science is not merely a question of learning how to build or utilize a robot but also involves the acquisition of methods for reasoning and experimenting with the world. Robot science is a combination of various scientific disciplines that show students how thrilling science can be.

The latest edition
“RomeCup 2013, excellence in robotics in Rome” was held from March 20 to 22, 2013 and put the best of robot science on show by combining 3 big events in one: conferences, a demonstration area, and competitions at both Rome’s Città Educativa and Campidoglio area.

This is the first time that the competitions in the Cospace Theatre Category will be held in Italy, along with the launching of the first LEIS (Lego Education Innovation Studio) in Rome. Over 30 schools from 12 Italian regions will be competing, and 20 study workshops will be held for students, and various seminars in innovative teaching methods will be offered to their teachers. There will also be three conferences on robotics and the future, work, and development. More than 30 companies and organizations renowned for the excellence will put their products and services on display in the exhibition area. The Jobot Matching Day, an encounter between the young, companies, and universities will be held on the final day.
