Coding Lessons

A special report dedicated to Coding Girls was aired last Wednesday by Rai News. The report by Alessandra Solarino includes interviews with Valentina Gelsomini, a coach at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, and Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

The video addresses the multiplier effect of Coding Girls, a virtuous circle of coding activities in which young women learn, practice and become peer trainers.

Coding Lessons

A fifth-grade elementary class in Rome enjoys a coding lesson. The young students learn about programming through hands-on activities in one of the many pilot programmes planned by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research.

The lesson is held by Valentina Gelsomini, a Coding Girl, thanks to the project organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, the United States Embassy in Italy and Microsoft Italy. The objective is to introduce little girls and young women to scientific and technological subjects and overcome the gender gap in a sector that provides many work opportunities and is still strongly male-oriented.
