Critical Competences

The Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale are investing in young men and women with 5G4School, the Project which introduces new digital communication technology into Italian schools to promote the personal and professional development of the new generations and a more connected, innovative and sustainable society.  An orientation, training and enterprise programme for 200 students in Rome and Milan.

This morning, Cesare Avenia, President of the Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson, met with 100 students from IIS Croce-Aleramo in Rome as part of the Project 5G4School that the Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale have launched in Italy to teach students about the potential of fifth generation networks and introduce them to new professional scenarios and profiles.

“As President of the Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson, I am proud to actively participate, through this new programme, in the dissemination of the critical competences that will be fundamental for the insertion of young men and women into the working world. Together with the entire board of the Fondazione Ericsson, I hope that this new programme promoted together with the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will bring students closer to the new frontiers of digital technological innovation,” declared Cesare Avenia.

Transmitting up to 10 Gigabit a second means that enormous quantities of data will cross greater distances even more quickly, revolutionising the application of information from the automobile to the health sector. How can we introduce citizens to this transformation? How should we invest in education to prepare young men and women to successfully face the challenges of the future? With Project 5G4School, the Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale involve students in the experimentation of 5G Networks, Internet of Things and Cloud Robotics to interconnect objects, data and individuals and bring services and benefits to their local contexts.

The activities, which will address 200 high school students in Rome and Milan, are part of an orientation, training and enterprise programme that includes various phases: a school-work programme on the development of IoT and Cloud Robotics applications; two hackathons to select the teams that will participate in the Phyrtual Factory, the inclusive youth accelerator developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale; exhibition of prototypes and award for the best project at RomeCup 2019, the robotics event to be held in Rome on April 2-5.

“With the Fondazione Lars Magnus Ericsson we help young men and women to experiment the potential and impact of new technology in personal and professional contexts. WE promote creativity, innovative and inclusive solutions and a culture of change to drive a shift in the vision, system and growth of Italian companies and Italy itself,” declared Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
