Light and Lasers

How is light used to communicate? How do luminous signals work?

At RomeCup 2018, researchers from the National Agency for New Technology, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) will illustrate the difference between the light emitted by a normal bulb, a LED and a laser, and how the peculiarity of this can be used in a range of fields, ranging from technology to medicine.

The researchers will also explain how fibre optics works and how luminous signals are transmitted in applications used by cultural heritage, structural monitoring and biomedical applications.

Optics, Lasers and Photonics: Maria Aurora Vincenti and Francesca Bonfigli, ENEA Researchers, give us a preview.

ENEA, a RomeCup 2018 partner, will present a series of projects in the showcase area, host labs for schools and organise an interactive debate on fake news in science.

The 12th of RomeCup, a multi-event dedicated to Robotics and Life Sciences in the Innovation Eco-System, will be hosted by the Rome Università Campus Bio-Medico on April 16-17, 2018. On Day Three (April 18), the Awards Ceremony will be held as usual at the Campidoglio.
