Bologna "The Citizens Meet the Internet"

The Citizens Meet the Internet Conference, which was held in Bologna on January 29 at the headquarters of the Emilia Romagna Region, featured the participation of Cecilia Stajano, Coordinator of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s Grandparents on the Internet Project for lifelong learning and adult digital literacy.

Grandparents on the Internet is based on an inter-generational learning model: young tutors teach the elderly to use computers, surf the web and communicate with public administrations. Since 2003, Grandparents on the Internet has trained 7500 elders and involved 4000 students as tutors.

The Bologna event presented not only the results achieved during the first year of the Bread and the Internet: courses to navigate and enjoy the web Project, an initiative that the Emilia Romagna Region reserves for citizens at risk of remaining beyond the knowledge divide, but also showcased research and virtuous initiatives to bring citizens closer to the digital administration and public administrations closer to citizens through accessible and user-friendly services.
