Constitution Day

Tomorrow, June 2, is the “Festa della Repubblica,” Constitution Day in Italy. RAI3 show "Le parole per dirlo," hosted by Noemi Gherrero, dedicated last Sunday’s episode (May 30) to the Italian Constitution.

"It is universally recognised as the most beautiful in the world. So, why are there so many Italians that do not really know our constitution?" Jurist Sabino Cassese will be a guest at the TV show. "Linguistic analysis alternates with a profound reflection on the fundamental principles in the Constitution and reveal both the beauty of our language and the laws underlying the Republic."

The show creators also reproposed an old interview with Linguist Tullio De Mauro: "The Constitution has led a step towards minor solemnity and greater dialogue."

Happy “Festa della Repubblica”!

«È un passo nella direzione della minore solennità e della maggiore colloquialità che la Costituzione ci ha dato.»
Tullio De Mauro.
