In Sardinia, the Class 4E workgroup at IIS Euclide in Cagliari, coordinated by Prof Mauro Vacca, is working on identity theft, money fraud and cyber-bullying. Here is their advice advocated by Marta Cossu, in the role of the journalist, and Elisa Scalas, the spokesperson.

Identity Theft

Set your profile to private and be careful about whom you have contacts with on-line in order to avoid that someone may exploit your personal data inappropriately or steal your identity or photo.

On-line Money Theft

Many people tend to trust on-line announcements of money or gift prizes. Unfortunately, these sites ask “winners” for their personal data and steal their money. In order to avoid fraud, always make sure the site is real and don’t trust offers you know nothing about.

Cyber-bullying

Cyber-bullying is a very widespread phenomenon in social media and many victims react by clamming shut. There is no certain way to prevent this problem, but it’s crucial to speak with one’s family or turn to the postal police. Do not be afraid of a violent reaction by the bully, there will always be someone there to help you.
