The first Physics School with Arduino and Smartphones, organised by the Sapienza University of Rome Department of Physics Curricular Programmes ends today [see news Hands on Experiments].

The school, which addresses all physics professors teaching in high schools, will be held at the Fondazione Mondo Digitale’s Phyrtual Innovation Gym in collaboration with the Roma TRE University.

After the first day of fontal lessons and exercises, teachers are now developing hands-on experiments to be conducted with Arduino chipsets and smartphones.

We have been extremely pleased – and surprised – by the participation and enthusiasm of the teachers for this pilot course, something which is clearly evident in the interviews with Cecilia Stajano [School Innovation Coordinator] and the photo gallery produced in "crowdsourcing."

The school is currently open to all science teachers in the Lazio Region and will probably be extended to teachers from other regions as soon as the waiting list allows it. New editions of the school will certainly be held as there were many more candidates than available places.
