Fighting Stereotypes

Project Women in Technology, promoted by Costa Crociere Foundation, lands in Palermo to work with the Ipssar Pietro Piazza and IIS Camillo Finocchiaro Aprile Schools.

Cecilia Stajano, FMD School Innovation Coordinator and Project Manager,  was present at the first labs held by Coach Cecilia Lalatta Costerbosa. This is what she witnessed:

The young women brought tears to our eyes. They already understand that their path is uphill, but they are ready to fight and work hard. These are often determined women who do not give up to the stereotypes that would relegate them to roles as mothers and housewives.

They have a clear understanding of what they want and already suffer and fear gender discrimination. They welcome Project WIT because it will help them acquire new skills and provides a new challenge. They are confident in their resources and know that their families and context can determine what they will do, but Project WIT provides them with an opportunity to grow, acquire competences, express themselves and become positive models for their classmates and younger sisters, empowering their dreams.

Their faces and words exude the depth of their young promise.
