Awards were presented today to the winners of the 7th edition of the Global Junior Challenge, the international competition promoted by Roma Capitale and organized every two years by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.
Winners, selected for their innovative use of modern ICT technology for youth education and training, received a bronze medal depicting the Etruscan she-wolf, the prestigious symbol of the city of Rome, along with a designer object inspired by the city and created in the Fab Lab at the FMD Phyrtual Innovation Gym in Rome.
The awards were presented by Alfonso Molina, Professor of Technology Strategy, University of Edinburgh and Scientific Director, Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
The Winning Projects
The 500-euro prize for Most Innovative Teacher was presented to Alfonso D’Ambrosio, Professor at the IIS Kennedy School in Monsalice (Padova) and Daniele Dattrino, Professor at the IIS Manetti School in Grosseto.
The President of the Republic Award for the most innovative Italian school was presented to IIS A. Castigliano from Asti.
The Small Fund Award that finances projects in the poorest areas of the world was awarded to Project Defy: Design Education for Yourself from India.
Moreover, the 500-euro prize of the International Hackathon for Social Innovation was awarded to Team Farmdep from the IIS Copernico School in Pomezia with their Road to Jubilee App.
