Hackathon 5G4School

Hackathon 5G4School

As part of the key event for Project 5G4School, students at ITIS G. Feltrinelli in Milan, will have to use what they have learned to date on a concrete project. The objective of today’s event is to conceive, develop and prototype ideas, products and solutions based on 5G technology.

Students will work in teams on the following challenges:

  • Tourism and Culture – How can we exploit the potential of 5G to create solutions to improve the interaction of people in smart cities? How can we promote the world of culture and tourism with technological innovation?
  • Security – A world of connected devices poses critical issues concerning security. How can we safeguard people and their information?
  • Robotics - Cloud Robotics, Remote Surgery, Gaming, Companion Robots … the opportunities in robotics are only limited by our imagination.
  • Mobility – Self-driving vehicles, intelligent traffic lights, interactive road signs … mobility will be deeply affected by a faster and low latency network like 5G. What new scenarios can we imagine in this field?

At the end of each common work session, the participants will present their ideas through 3-minute elevator pitches. The jury will evaluate their projects based on the following criteria:

  • Design
  • Concrete quality
  • Innovation
  • Development potential
  • Social impact

Four teams will be selected for the second phase of Project 5G4School: the Phyrtual Factory Youth Accelerator, where the teams will be helped to develop their projects for the final phase at Romecup 2019 (April 3), where the best projects will receive awards. Next Thursday, the same challenge will be held in Rome in another school involved in the project.
