Last year’s robots were called Brontolo and Gommolo, respectively football attack and defence robots for Team SPQR from the Galileo Galilei School. This year, the robots have been named Salvador and Manfreus in honour of two former professors. Last years, the all-boys team was headed by Giulia De Iuli, while this year the leader will be Mayar Badr, who is about to take his state “Maturità” exams. Did she have any issues in managing a team of students from a mainly male school? Absolutely not: “I definitely prefer to work with boys,” explains Mayar, while Giulia adds: “I see more prejudice amongst women, who believe certain things are not for women and are shocked by it.”

This is how the article by Veronica Adriani describes the handover between two young women - Giulia and Mayar - studying at ITIS Galileo Galilei in Rome for RomeCup 2018. The interesting article shows how far a passion for robotics cultivated on the competition fields at the RomeCup can take you!
