As part of the Global Junior Challenge event, Rome will also host the Smart&Heart Cities initiatives together with the Knowledge Society Forum (KSF), two great international events that are connected by a single fundamental issue: civic, social and technological innovation.

The Global Junior Challenge is an international competition that rewards the innovative use of technology for 21st century education and social inclusion. Promoted by Roma Capitale, the competition is organized by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale under the high patronage of the Italian Presidency. It serves as a unique opportunity to reflect on the challenges posed by the 21st century in terms of innovation in didactics, integration, sustainable development and the reduction of world poverty.

 

The “Smart&Heart Cities” initiative is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and the Eurocities Consortium, which brings together over 100 European cities, including Rome. And Rome will host of the 2015 edition of the Knowledge Society Forum and the Forum PA. The objective of the initiative is to support public administration in guaranteeing the civic participation of citizens through ICT. The City of Rome, with the support of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, has chosen to promote the use of ICT for aware citizenship and is hosting the KSF that will focus on the theme of “Smart & Heart Cities.”
