Intergenerational Dialogue

A report by Luisa Deiola for Meridiana Notizie on the presentation of the "Knowledge Volunteers 3.0" International Competitions (Rome, November 30).

The “Knowledge Volunteers 3.0" International Competition was presented in Rome. The Competition is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale in collaboration with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Department of Youth, with the patronage of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy and the support of Intel Italy. The initiative is an ideal bridge between 2011 – The European Year for Volunteering Activities promoting Active Citizenship – and 2012, the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity Amongst Generations. The objective of the award is to promote the educational role of school in training an active citizenship amongst the new generations and creating a network of knowledge volunteers sharing experiences and competences and fully exploiting the contribution of young tutors and students for the digital literacy of the eldlerly and intergenerational dialogue. Present at the presentation: Gianluigi de Palo, Family, Education and Youth Councillor, Alfonso Molina, Scientific Director of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Sofia Pain, Department of Youth, Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Project priorities include: promotion of active ageing and digital volunteering amongst peers for the elderly. The second edition of this competition amplifies and reformulates - at a national and international level - the first local network of young volunteers developed in Rome that was subsequently extended to other regions.
