Local Medical Facilities

The health emergency has taught us how important it is to take care of ourselves and others. The collaboration between INMI Lazzaro SpallanzaniRegione Lazio and the Fondazione Mondo Digitale led to Starting Back Up Together, a project addressing solidarity and community to contrast the isolation of elders and help them to use on-line health services. The project, which started as a pilot in Rome’s ASL 3 area, is based on the intergenerational learning model and the contribution of the Network of Knowledge Volunteers with a telephone help desk and a video service that allowed young men and women in local high schools to help the elders to use on-line health services, smartphone applications and virtual assistance tools.

The final event (on-line, June 4 at 3 pm) will present the project through its protagonists and launch new challenges for the inclusion of technology, such as telemedicine, robotics and artificial intelligence. In terms of distance medicine services, the national recovery and resilience plan will invest one billion euro. Are the elders ready? How can knowledge volunteers help?
