Activities continue at the Innovation Gym begin developed at the Istituto Comprensivo Via Poppea Sabina thanks to Programme Smart & Heart Rome, supported by the City of Rome [also see news on school website (in Italian): Diamo forma alle nostre idee].

The creation of an experiential environment allows students to learn the basics of computational thought develop skills for logic and problem solving, and various groupwork methodologies (cooperative learning, peer education and peer tutoring).

In today’s Labs, WiFi Robotics Labs Coaches will introduce students to what lurks beneath a “simple” videogame and the process to develop one in 2D.

The Istituto comprensivo Via Poppea Sabina, directed by Stefania Forte, is in an area that still lacks public services such as a post office, a police station and meeting areas, except for the parish. There are shops, offices, private sports centres and small green areas with playgrounds. Moreover, the area is still not well-connected with the rest of the city. There is only one road, Via Sant’Alessandro that connects Via Nomentana and Via Tiburtina. “The school aims to become an environment for extensive interaction and open debate for students and residents at large, a centre for local cohesion and community services. In this dimension, the school and the area play a complementary role in the operation of the educational system, each according to its peculiarities. However, they are both educationally co-responsible to students via a synergic action based on colLaborations designed and developed to reach common objectives that are reciprocally enriched.”
