Radio K2 Interviews

We continue our review of the projects that won the previous editions of the prestitious Global Junior Challenge International Competition. Today, we travel to Piancavallo, under Mount monte Morissolo, which the kids in Verbania have nicknamed K2. And that is why their radio is called K2, too. It’s a permanent reference point for their education, just like the mountain is for their growth...

Project New Technology Ancient Values: Radio K2 won the Special Award of the Italian President at the 2009 edition of the Global Junior Challenge [see news: GJC2009 Winners Proclaimed]. You can read more about the excitement on the school website and the happiness of Teachers Palmina Trovato e Rita Torelli upon their return from Rome. The students interviewed them and put together a short news report.

The K2 Radio is a web radio developed by students from the Piancavallo Middle School at the Istituto Auxologico Italiano Hospital. The jury motivated the award as follows: “This is an excellent example of the creative use of a web radio to promote knowledge, communication and the growth of young men and women.”

The small community radio  has blossomed and now conducts important interviews, such as that it recently aired with Senator Elena Ferrara, the first signatory of Bill N. 71/2017 against Cyberbullying, an issue that is particularly important to schools.
