Remembering De Mauro

On January 5, Minister for Education, University and Research, Valeria Fedeli, dedicated a conference hall at the Ministry to the great linguist, one year from his death. The ceremony was held in the Salone dei Ministri with Tullio De Mauro’s wife, Professor Silvana Ferreri [see press release, in Italian: Tullio De Mauro, Fedeli: domani il ricordo al Miur. Un anno fa la scomparsa del celebre linguista: gli sarà intitolata una sala di Viale Trastevere].

Tullio De Mauro (Torre Annunziata, 1932 - Rome, 2017) was an internationally renowned linguist and university professor. From 2000 to 2001, he served as Minister of Public Education and for ten years, from 2001 to 2011, he was the President of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

Recently, we dedicated the Global Junior Challenge International Competition to him. And today we republish the homages of Mirta Michilli and Alfonso Molina from the "School According to De Mauro" Conference (Biblioteche di Roma, October 25, 2017).
