The adventure of Team SPQR from IIS Galileo Galilei from Rome competing in the Lightweight League at RoboCup Junior continues at the Robotics World Championships in Nagoya, Japan (July 27-30, 2017).

Professor Paolo Torda, who coordinates Team SPQR, has written to Francesca Del Duca, Manager of RomeCup 2017.

"Hi Francesca,

We are on day two of Robocup. We have competed in 4 games so far with two victories and two defeats.

We won the first 12-2 against an American team and then lost 8-1 against a German team. On day two, we won 10-0 against a Canadian team and then lost 3-2 with the Austrian team. It was a very close match that we could have tied or won with a bit more luck.

Tomorrow we play against a Japanese team and another that is still to be determined.

I doubt we can make the podium, although we will probably receive good scores for behaviour, relations, posters, collaboration, team spirit and documentation, all factors that contribute to the final placement.”

We have also received updates from the IIS Cobianchi Team from Verbania coordinated by Prof. Raimondo Sgrò that is competing in the Soccer Open League.

"Raimondo’s team is going so-so, neither bad nor well. Let’s see what happens.”

As we await further updates from the other teams, best of luck to all our teams in Japan!
