The national selections for the 2010 Robotics World Champsionship in Singapore, where humanoid robots from around the world will compete, will be held in Rome. The 2010 Championship introduces the new featherweight robot category.

The RomeCup 2010 will be held on March 18-20 in Rome at Itis Galileo Galilei and the Campidoglio, the Rome Townhall. The initiative, which features many different types of robots (humanoid and not), is now in its fourth edition. The RomeCup initiative, which was designed and is organized by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale as part of its efforts to promote robodidactics in schools, is growing increasingly international and diverse.

This year the three-day event includes the national selections for Robocup Junior 2010. The winners will participate in the World Robotics Championship in Singapore. Competition categories include Soccer, Dance, and Rescue.  For the first time, robots weighing less than 1.5 kilograms will be admitted to the soccer category.

The Robocup Mediterranean Open 2010 will also be held during this time. This is a humanoid robot championship open to universities from around the world.

You may register on-line at www.robocup-mediterranean-open.org as well as consult regulations and read about further novelties of the fourth edition of the Romecup.
