STEAMedge, a community for innovating education

A LinkedIn group dedicated to teachers, researchers and education professionals has been launched.

How can artificial intelligence and sustainability be integrated into the teaching of STEAM subjects? What experiences can help schools develop more innovative, interdisciplinary and inclusive educational approaches? And how can best practices tested in different contexts be turned into a shared resource?
To encourage discussion on these challenges, the STEAMedge Community of Practice: STEAM, AI and Sustainability has been launched – a community of practice bringing together teachers, educators, researchers, public decision-makers and other professionals interested in the future of education.
The initiative forms part of the European project STEAMedge and provides a collaborative space on LinkedIn, designed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experiences and resources amongst individuals and organisations working in different educational contexts.

A network that learns and shares
The community has been established with the aim of fostering ongoing discussion on the integration of science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics with the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and the challenges of sustainability.
Through the group, participants can share teaching materials, methodologies, research findings, training initiatives and events, as well as propose topics for discussion, share experiences and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
The value of a community of practice lies precisely in the ability to bring together diverse skills and experiences, fostering the circulation of knowledge and the collective development of educational solutions. From this perspective, the network can help make innovations more accessible, adaptable and transferable across schools, regions and education systems.

From training to the European community
The establishment of the community of practice forms part of a broader European initiative. Co-ordinated by the Hellenic Open University and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme, STEAMedge involves ten organisations from five countries, including the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
By 2028, the project aims to involve at least 750 European teachers in training programmes that integrate artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and drones with sustainability education. At the same time, it aims to build a community of 300 professionals, capable of ensuring the ongoing exchange of experiences and international collaboration.
The Fondazione Mondo Digitale contributes to the development of the skills framework, the piloting of training programmes and the involvement of Italian schools.

How to get involved
The STEAMedge Community of Practice is open to all professionals and organisations interested in contributing to the debate on educational innovation. Taking part means connecting with an international network, sharing resources and opportunities, proposing initiatives and helping to spread practices that link education, technology and sustainability.
