<MTL> Connect: Montreal Digital Week, which will be held on October 13-18, is an all-digital event on technological innovation, digital transformation and networking with over 600 speakers from over 50 countries.
FPA will participate in the international event and organise the Restart Italia - The Education Challenge session that will be held on Thursday, October 15 (1:50 – 2:35 pm). Director General Mirta Michilli will participate on behalf of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.
In Italy, the Covid-19 emergency has shed light on the ambivalence concerning the relationship between technology and learning. On the one hand, distance learning provided a lifeline for guaranteeing community didactics (both in presence and distance). On the other, it amplified social inequalities caused by the technological and cultural digital divide. In fact, there are many families that still do not have an Internet connection capable of ensuring e-learning, or that do not have the necessary skills to use digital tools and platforms.
There are crucial challenges for the future of education – the development of new methodologies to teach classic subjects – digital inclusion policies – development of digital skill to ensure employability and the exercise of citizen rights – that require a medium and long-term outlook. The value of networks and local creativity are the fulcrum that can be used to share the best experiences developed during the emergency and build on what has been developed so far.
