What is the role of language in the acquisition of knowledge about the world?
How does language orient our actions and guide us to obtain knowledge about the world? This is the focus of the meeting that will be held on October 9, 2008 at the Faculty of Statistical Sciences of the Rome “La Sapienza” University as part of a meeting dedicated to “Determinate and Indeterminate: the reflexive nature of meta-linguistics”.
The meeting, which will be introduced by Gabriella Salinetti, Chair of the Faculty of Statistical Sciences”, features the participation of linguist Tullio De Mauro, President of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale. Prof. De Mauro will address the issue of the ability of language to reflect upon itself and the strategic role that the reflexive nature of meta-linguistics plays in the continuous process of analysis and re-elaboration of this field.
The meeting is one of a series of meetings organised by the Centre for Interfaculty Research in Science Methodology of the Rome “La Sapienza” University that for many years has been promoting communication and integration between natural and human sciences.
