Twelve over-sixties participate in Project Telemouse that began on February 9 at the “Democrito” Scientific Lyceum in Rome. The 17-19 year-old tutors, coordinated by Prof. Angelo Squillace, get along splendidly with the “grandparents” whom they will teach how to use a PC and navigate the web.
The first lesson focused on the computer hardware and its various accessories. The tutors used a multimedia board to help the elderly memorise key words. “It was really exciting to write on a board with a finger and in colour! It seemed impossible,” exclaimed one of the elders reminiscing about the old slate blackboards.

Last week, Telemouse courses also kicked off at the Istituto comprensivo Leonori in Acilia with an even larger class: 21 over sixties from the “Piazza dei Sicani” elderly centre, where Telecom Italia, a partner of the Telemouse Project, has already installed a computer room. The President of the Elderly Centre, Domenico Bucci, practices every day and has already become a pro!
