Amidst Fashion and Technology

As part of the Rome Fashion Week organised by Altaroma on January 23-26, 2020 at the former “Guido Reni” Barracks, the Fondazione Mondo Digitale will host a new edition of “Fashion Digital Night” dedicated to wearable technology.

Biological dyes extracted from pomegranate and red cabbage, accessories produced by living micro-organisms or industrial waste, clothes that absorb gas and clean the environment and items of clothing that can monitor your heart rate or interpret your emotions. Forty projects, designed and developed by young stylists, designers, developers and makers from 15 countries, have been selected for the second edition of the international "For Young Fashion Talents" Contest and the Fashion Digital Night on January 26 at 7:15 pm [see news: Fashion Tech].

The fashion show addresses three areas - wearable technology, digital fabrication and bio-materials – and includes a photo exhibition that documents the production of the items of clothing and accessories. A committee of experts will assign a €2000-cash prize to the best project. Special mentions and recognitions will also be presented to event partners.

The fashion show is part of Project Digital Made promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale to accelerate the digital transformation of the fashion sector, support innovation amongst Italian SMEs and develop new competences and professional profiles for the new generations. Since 2019, the Fab Lab at the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, a model developed by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, has become an official hub of the Fabricademy and hosts labs and courses on intelligent materials, digital manufacturing and sustainable materials.

The Fashion Digital Night is promoted by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, in collaboration with Altaroma and in partnership with 3DiTALY, WeMake, Fabricademy, Reshape, ITmakES and the Italian Consulate General in Barcelona. Special thanks also go to the Fab Lab Frosinone, the Accademia di Belle Arti in Naples and Fab Lab Perù.
