Biometric Applications

The protagonist of the “experiential lesson" that we share today is Annunziata "Nancy" Paviglianiti (25), who has a degree in electronic engineering and is a PhD student in metrology at the Politecnico di Torino.

In the first part of the video, Nancy explains what led her to choose a PhD in metrology. She then explains her research activity at the Neuronica Lab at the Politecnico di Torino. She is particularly interested in biometric applications of artificial intelligence and explains neural networks to us.

As part of Project Coding Girls in Turin, promoted with the support of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, we have collected presentations by young women in the world of STEAM to interest young men and women in studying scientific subjects.

Thanks to the collaboration of Arianna Montorsi, Rector’s Coordinator for Gender Equality and Diversity at the Politecnico di Torino, many young women have been involved that will hold courses in schools during the new school year.
