CS First Winners

Speakers at last Wednesday’s CS First Graduation Day  (Dec. 16) included Mirta Michilli, Director General of the Fondazione Mondo Digitale, and Alessandro Bogliolo, Professor of Information Processing Systems at the University of Urbino. Over 80 teachers, students and coaches from the Fondazione Mondo Digitale participated in the event.

 

There were seven finalist projects in three categories:

 

STORYTELLING

  • Diversity in a Story by Gianni Rodari - Patrizia Tambè and Vincenza Maria Stella Tambè, ICS "Padre Gabriele Maria Allegra" - Valverde (Catania)
  • Friends of H - Arianna Carpino, IC Martin Luther King, "Nuova Europa" Primary School in Rome

 

ANIMATION

  • Friends with Special Needs - Elisa Baraghini, educator at Scuola Infanzia del Polo Lama (Ravenna)
  • Equality - Maria Grazia Fonti, IC Villaggio Coppola di Castel Volturno Primary School (Caserta)
  • Diversity - Lara Lina Ferrari, first-degree secondary school at IC Del Vergante di Orta San Giulio (Novara)

 

PROGRAMMING WITH GAMES

  • Play with Picasso and ... Dyslexia! - Maria Giovanna Boiocchi IC Enrico Fermi di Romano di Lombardia Primary School (Bergamo)
  • Additions with the Union Magician - Marzia Trumino and Carmela Cundari IC Giovanni Verga Scordia Primary School (Catania)

 

SPECIAL MENTION

End Violence Against Women - Samantha Magdale, Student in Class 4A, International Relations for Marketing, IIS Falcone Righi di Corsico (Milan). The project was developed following a proposal by Prof. Paola Pupilli for the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women” – Computer Science to improve the world, to contribute positively to common peace, without violence, with our diversity.”

 

 

CONTEST WINNERS

 

 

All projects address diversity and inclusion and reveal how coding can be a useful tool to communicate difficult concepts to children.

 

All finalist projects, including others, will be inserted in the new CS First Curriculum Mapping that will be published in January 2021.

 

 

Tutti i progetti affrontano il tema della diversity e dell'inclusione con modalità e interpretazioni che dimostrano come il coding possa essere uno strumento utile per rappresentare in maniera animata e piacevole concetti a volte difficili da condividere con i bambini.

Inoltre tutti i progetti finalisti e anche molti altri candidati al contest vengono inseriti nel nuovo Curriculum Mapping di CS First che sarà pubblicato a gennaio 2021.
