"As you stroll through the showcase area at Romecup 2018, you may spot a very realistic looking robot head,” explains Fiammetta Castagnini, who together with Francesca Del Duca is organising the 12th edition of the multi-event that will be hosted, this year, by the Rome Università Campus Bio-Medico.

It’s a prototype developed by students at IIS Palmieri-Rampone-Polo in Benevento, the school directed by Assunta Fiengo. The team is coordinated by Prof. Amedeo Lepore and Artist Donato Piccolo, who art works investigate natural, physical and biological phenomena through technological and mechanical installations and drawings.

The "Leonardo Da Vinci Head” has been programmed to speak in English. Moreover, the robot is equipped with a computer vision system that reproduces human eyesight. The video provides a preview of this work mingling arts and robotics, but you can see it at work on April 16-17 at the Università Campus Bio Medico in Rome.

And the young programmers will also compete in the Explorer Category Competition.
