Deliberate Solutions for Sustainability

The SAP Challenge for students at the final hackathon of Rising Youth.

The students participating in Project Rising Youth  are already working on the challenge launched by Sap, one of the main companies providing business IT solutions: how to use technology to develop a solution that promotes sustainability objectives by impacting positively on our "use" of the environment and natural resources. The teams meet and work as if they were a start-up. They assign each other roles and combine Sap technologies, illustrated by the coaches during the course, into original solutions. Teams also have access to the YouTube Playlist to review lesson content. In the production phase, they employ design thinking and brainstorming methodologies.

The professor responsible for each team will send a presentation (PPT or PDF, minimum 5 - maximum 7 slides) to illustrate the idea and operation of the project to risingyouth@mondodigitale.org by February 20th. The project should adhere as closely as possible to the jury's criteria for evaluation. We highly recommended reviewing the launch event video before beginning the project. Please use the template sent to schools for your project, which should be entitled name-of-the-team_class_school. The first slide must contain the name of the team and members (3 to 5 students), class, school. Other necessary information is:

  • Sustainability issue addressed and desired results
  • Description of proposal and how it solves the identified problem
  • Description of advantages and critical points of identified solution

The teams will compete on March 21st, from 2-5 pm, in the final hackathon at RomeCup 2024,  hosted for the first two days by the Engineering Macro-area of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. The students, supported by expert trainers and university students, will finalize prototypes and presentations, to present and enhance the idea, illustrating its social, technological, and environmental impacts, benefits, and innovation, as well as critical issues and negative impact (if there is a small price to pay for a great benefit). The final phase will be with the jury experts, who will evaluate the projects based on originality, quality of presentation, impact on business, sustainability, and adoption of intelligent SAP technology.

The best to all the teams! And see you at RomeCup 2024...
