There are many ways of building communities with schools ... one of these is to offer continuous opportunities for quality relations, including new educational opportunities. Four young women in Bologna enthusiastically accepted an invitation to follow the webinars of Factor J, the project promoted by Janssen Italia to help young men and women to develop emotional intelligence, respect and empathy towards individuals suffering from serious unease or affected by disease.

The students from the Liceo Luigi Galvani in Bologna are some of the protagonists of the last edition of Coding Girls. After having faced gender discrimination in first person, they are now learning more about stereotypes related to “invisible disease.” They have different expectations and projects, but they are all equally motivated.

Chiara is in year four and she was struck by the point of view of the meetings, enriched with the experience of patient associations. “I am evaluating whether to continue my studies in medical research or biotechnology, or perhaps in neuroscience. I would like to have a more specific idea.”

“I find the issue of beauty in diversity and the focuses on the coronavirus very interesting. How should we take care of ourselves during the quarantine?” Lucrezia is interested in the psychological consequences of the health emergency. “There is a lot of talk about it on TV, but no real focus.”

“I have always wanted to be a doctor,” explains Maisha. “This project will help me to prepare for my future career. In order to be a good doctor, one must know how to manage patients. I believe that emotional intelligence can help me to develop this skill.”
