IoT and Apps

Starting last October, the Phyrtual Innovation Gym has held Internet of Things labs for secondary school students organised by the Fondazione Mondo Digitale and Cisco.

Workshops held in the digital environments of the Phyrtual Innovation Gym, courses at school and webinars with experts have allowed students to experientially gain new skills to take their first steps in the world of ICT and prepare for new professions. Three months after project kick-off, more than 25 schools are participating in the labs.

During the four-hour labs, students learn new expressions and terms such as big data, people-to-machine and robotic swarm, access the Cisco Net Academy Platform and develop simple apps using the IFTTT (If This Then That) Platform that allows them to programme and combine function automations. In this phase, student ideas mostly concentrate on aspects of daily life. They have been creating applications that connect different social networks, mobile devices and geo-localisation services.
