Mayoral Wishes

In the run-up to the upcoming mayoral elections in Rome, daily Corriere della Sera is interviewing citizens on what they expect of the new mayor. The new section was launched by journalist Paolo Fallai: What I would like from the next mayor.

You can read the first eight interviews at the following link or on the print editions: The Mayor I’d Like.

Here are the ideas of Mirta Michilli, who directs the Fondazione Mondo Digitale.

I would like a courageous mayor, one who will focus on youth and school, who will be able to address the many emergencies that our city faces, without overlooking the great challenges of education and youth employment.

I’d like a mayor who can act in the present, with sincerity and a view to the future.

A mayor who will passionately accept the challenge of making Rome once again the centre of the world thanks to its many resources. We could use the many available spaces in the city and its schools to create a network of technological, social and civic innovation environments to stimulate creativity, self-enterprise, and equal opportunities and stimulate the creation of new jobs throughout the city.

I would like a mayor with a team that will meet with people, speak and exchange ideas, communicate and understand citizens and take care of them with empathy. A team that will base its actions on young men and women and their energy and transform them into agents for change to win the inclusion challenge with technology and create a city by all and for all.

Only in this way, will Rome become a giant Phyrtual Innovation Gym for the entire country.
