On the third day of the RomeCup 2012 - Excellence in Robotics in Rome (March 23, 2012), a three-way meet will be held between autonomous NAO humanoid robots, seniors and juniors. The event will be held in parallel with the final debate of the 50 signatories of the National Framework Agreement on Educational Robotics and the competitions.

The NAO Challenge has been organized by a long-time partner of the RomeCup: the A. Ruberti IT and Management Engineering Department of the Rome “Sapienza” University.

The meet will take place on March 23, 2011 at 10 am in the Campidoglio – Sala della Protomoteca. Autonomous humanoid NAO robots will interact with students and over-sixties and challenge the robots guided by Juniors and Seniors.

The challenge includes penalty kicks and “hide and seek” competitions in which elders and students will have to look for objects via their robots and interact with the audience through a vocal interface.

“We want to test a new type of competition and showcase our robots’ ability to interact intelligently with humans,” explains Luca Iocchi, Associate Professor at the A. Ruberti Department of IT and Management Engineering.
