Tomorrow, everyone connected to the GoToWebinar Platform to view the final event of Project RoLab - Rome Live Art Lab, promoted with the United States Embassy in Italy, will have the opportunity to visit the virtual museum, a digital gallery that hosts the ten models for the urban regeneration of abandoned areas in the city developed by high school students in Rome and Lazio. There will also be a preview of the photos on the transformation of the areas regenerated to provide new spaces for the health emergency by the artistic duo composed by Linda Pagani (USA) and Federica Pamio (Italy) [see news: A City with Antibodies].

The Ten Finalist Projects

  • Sandro Pertini School in Genzano – the abandoned Capannelle Station becomes a Multimedia Museum of the Roman countryside;
  • Confalonieri De Chirico School – the former public transportation depot is transformed into a covered skatepark with tracks and 3D printers and laser cutters for repairs;
  • Liceo Morgagni School in Rome – from the traffic-ridden Via Tuscolana to Villa Pamphili, the Casale di Giovio becomes a meeting point with art and technology;
  • Via Roma 298 School in Guidonia - plans to make the building on Via Fiorentini in the eastern part of Rome into a cultural business centre;
  • Liceo Artistico Enzo Rossi – addresses a conservative and sustainable renovation project for the historical multi-storey “Morandi” carpark;
  • Liceo artistico Caravaggio – worked on an area where the school complex is located, along Via Argoli where the Ford Company is too;
  • Istituto Tecnico Archimede Pacinotti in Rome – redesigned the former Astra Cinema Theatre in the Tufello neighbourhood as a study and social centre;
  • Istituto Hertz in Rome – applied augmented reality to the “Villa dei Sette Bassi” in the Appia Antica Archaeological Park;
  • Innocenzo XII School in Anzio – wants to transform the former custom house on Via Appia Nuova, which has been abandoned and is in ruin, into a cultural centre for the park;
  • Liceo sportivo Pacinotti Archimede in Rome – has developed the Multifunctional Aniene Park Station to be housed by the former army barracks on Viale Gottardo.

 

All the projects were developed during the health emergency with a special focus on social relations, aggregation and distancing.
